The estate of Migosi is among the populous estates in Kisumu city. The reality and threat of AIDS in this area requires a sober and pragmatic approach as many people live in a state of fear and denial despite the prevalence statistics showing this area to be a danger zone. Being an area bordered by the slums of Manyatta and Nyawita and right near the Kondele trading centre makes it a haven for the spread of AIDS. "Sex for Money" in this center is the norm and it even involves young orphaned girls who are only 12yeras old. It is common to see these young girls half naked around the many nightspots in the area. The major contributing factor is ignorance about prevalence of AIDS and acute poverty.

  1. It is very important that we take serious and deliberate moves to assist those infected/affected to pull through the stigma and the pain associated with the condition. We must start;however small, and move on to save a life by way of provision to the group that sometimes lacks in all manner; food, drugs, clothing, name it. Some of these people have no idea where they can get help, so let us take it to them and the sooner the better.
